Details for your Tambourines of Unity Event

Hi Ladies,

What a Zechus you have to share with women and girls an activity that *generates the hope and joy for the Geulah, particularly Techiyas Hameisim! ⚡💫⚡

Here's what you need to know in summary:

Decide which event(s) you want to use this for and publicize it. This is generally not made to be a stand-alone event. It can take a pretty short time to implement. It's probably best to do it in addition to another program/celebration.

#1. Order either a frame/hand drum (without bells) or tambourine (with cymbals) in the size that is a fit for your group. Adding bells is optional for the frame drum. A frame drum is generally used by tapping with the fingers on lower portion of the head, but because that lower area might be decorated, bells add a nice sound even if it were tapped on the backside where there is no decoration. For a large group, a 22-inch hand drum might be your best option, since of course, it could be divided to share with more women.

#2. Order the décor supplies in advance (things can look different in real life than the image online)

gems and pearls

(Circular 3d shapes aren’t easy to glue directly on the tambourines; rather purchase pearls or gems with a flat back. (Some examples will be posted below)

tacky glue,

acrylic paint,

water paint,

paint-brushes,

colored pencils,

colored pens,

q-tips and napkins (to clean up messes),

glitter glue,

stencils,

stickers,

markers,

scissors,

A list with basic instructions that you can hang up AT the event. Will post bezH.

A mod-podge spray sealer might be perfect for when it is done.

However, if you have gems, you might want to brush on mod-podge gloss or a shellac.

#3. It is highly recommended that you use a shape that has an up and a down, like a square, so that the Hebrew letters do not end up, upside down. 3 inch by 3-inch squares, might be a good size for the papers on a 22-inch drum. You can always decorate around it.

But in cases where there will be no letters or anything requiring an up and down, you can use any shape you want.

#4. You are free to add bells (I used 0.98in - 25mm) to the frame drums. You can do it by using brown thread and sewing it to the upper part of the brown ribbon/material it comes with. It is not too difficult, but you could give it to someone who likes to sew, to do. It's important to carefully hold the bottom of the ribbon down while poking the hole, so that the material does not come off.

# 5. Let us know which heroine(s) you choose so that it goes around to many of our heroines.

#6. If you would like, you can make a Goiral (raffle) as to who actually will temporarily store it. Perhaps the hostess of the event will appreciate the Z’chus. Hopefully you’ll be able to give it directly to the Heroine you chose.

P.S. If you are doing it at a Challah bake or any other potentially messy event, we recommend that the women do this first, to keep it as clean as possible.
